Susan Lavinia Bowden
New Glasgow - Susan Lavinia Bowden, in her 101st year, of New Glasgow, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in East Tracadie, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Charlotte “Lottie” (Williams) Borden.
She was the last surviving member of a family of 11. She was a member of Saint Georges Anglican Church, the ACW and the choir. She was a life member of the 55 Plus Club, was an avid skater and gardener and enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and attending the annual “Seniors Festival”. When she first moved to Pictou County, she was employed by the Cameron family in New Glasgow for many years.
Since the early 1970’s, she had been part of the Hoare family and is survived by, Faye; Jennifer (Robert) and their children Craig and Matthew; Jamie (Lynn) and their children Catherine and Claire. She will be greatly missed by her extended families of the Bonvies and the Hoares; numerous nieces and nephews, especially niece Margaret Aucoin; special friends: Warren, Emma and Alice. She was predeceased by special friends: Kip; and Ruth Cullen-Pelak.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Georges Anglican Church with Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
