Milton (Colpitts), Josephine S. – 99, of Diligent River and Chester passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester. Born in Diligent River, Josephine was a daughter of the late Burpee and Carrie (Yorke) Colpitts. Josephine will be remembered as “the greatest mother and grandmother in the world” by her children and grandchildren whom she cherished. During family summer visits, good food, good times, and much laughter was enjoyed as children and grandchildren gathered, each recalling his or her own version of childhood visits at gran’s place. Josephine loved music and was happiest when she could draw family and friends around the piano for a sing-song. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting, travelling to visit family, and creating beautiful paintings for the family and others to cherish forever. On one of her many trips, her son, Burpee (Bert) took her on a sailboat cruise up the B.C. coast on his beautiful yacht which she loved to proudly boast that “he built it with his own two hands.” She was proud of the accomplishments of all her children and grandchildren. Josephine is survived by daughters, Joan, Bayswater; Diane (John) Harrison, Blandford; sons, Gary (Carol), Diligent River; Burpee, Mexico and Vancouver; grandchildren, Shelley (Scott) Hodgson, Suzelle (Tim) Moore, Kelly (Cameron) Potts, Chad (Julie) Milton, Terry Harrison, Derek (Meaghan) Copp, Darren (Teri) Copp; great grandchildren, Laura, Kristina, Dekkerd, Luke, Jenna, Duncan, Katrijn, Cody; brother, Ronald (Mary), Diligent River; many nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Marjorie Connors; a son, Lloyd Jr.; a grandson, David Connors; great-granddaughter, Sarah Jane Connors; sister, Lola; brothers, George, Clayton, Arlie, Willie, Aubrey, Glenford, Vaughn, Paul, Kenny, Cecil, Arthur. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. A reception will follow in the Diligent River Community Centre. A private interment will take place at the Parrsboro Baptist Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Diligent River Baptist Church or Shoreham Village Palliative Care Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
