Eben David Ellis
Ellis, Eben David - 77, Truro, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Eastville, NS, he was a son of the late James "Harry" and Bertha (Dunlap) Ellis. Eben appreciated the outdoors and in his earlier years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved listening to music especially bluegrass and playing his fiddle. Over his working career, Eben had a wide range of different jobs which included being employed with McGraw and Edison in Ontario, where he drove forklift and did maintenance and also working at Debert Home Hardware Depot. He later was a janitor at C.E.C. in Truro, from where he retired. Eben attended St. James Presbyterian Church in Truro. He had a strong personality and never gave up. Surviving are his sons, Dana (Vanessa Lynk), Bible Hill and their children, Hayden and Bryson; Mark, Debert; children from a previous marriage, David, Brenda, Gail, Rowland, Ronald; stepdaughter, Patricia and daughter, Sandra who passed away in infancy. Also surviving are sisters, Isabel Tingley, Truro, Kay Ellis, Toronto, ON, Edith (Jack) MacDonald, Bedford and Vera (Maurice) Cunningham, Plymouth, NS; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Eben was predeceased by son, Michael in infancy; sisters, Jennie and Flora; brothers, Samuel and Roland. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 9 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Pastor Jacquie Ross officiating with interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
