Gerald Wisted
WISTED, GERALD - A happy and productive life ended suddenly with the passing of Gerald Louis Wisted on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013. Born in Saint John, NB on December 30, 1937, he is a son of the late Gerald and Elsie (Goldsworthy) Wisted. Gerry left Saint John to join the Airforce, later working with the Bank of Canada in Ottawa and Toronto and then onto H. Avard Loomer Co., in Saint John before finally starting his own company. In the late 60’s Gerry started Chempac Supply Company which he ran for 25 years retiring in 1993. After retirement, Gerry took up carving and proved to be an amazingly gifted wood carver, winning many outstanding awards for his work. Gerry was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the great outdoors, being in nature, hunting and fishing with a passion for tying his own flies. Gerry never complained about any adversity that he faced, making him an inspiration to all who knew him. He was determined to live life to the fullest and he never gave up. He was a great man and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Gerry is survived by his beloved wife, companion and best friend Mavis (Glaspy) Wisted; his devoted daughters Cathy (Gerald Buckley), Nancy, Debbie, and Marilyn (Gary Winters) ; as well as much loved grandchildren Kyle, Brian, Corey, Hollie and Alyson; great grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Alexis, Abagail and Rylee; brothers Ron (Ann) and Mike (Donna) and sister Mary (Al Weston). Gerry will also be dearly missed by his lifelong friends Joe, Gary, Leonard, Roland, Art and Billy, as well as, his many carving friends, especially Lynn and Mary and his good friend David Lunn. In addition to his parents, Gerald was also predeceased by his brother Jimmy.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. (646-2424) where family and friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 12 noon from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Rothesay. A reception will follow the funeral at the church.
