Annie Elizabeth MacPhail – 88. It is with great sadness that we announce Annie’s passing on the 14th day of August 2013 at the Valley View Villa, Riverton.
She was born in Montague, PEI on October 27, 1924 to the late Wesley and Mary (MacKay) Coulson.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Roy; son, Reg; daughter, Dianne and sisters, Jean and Doreen.
She is survived by daughter Shirley (Alex) Steeves, of Bedford, where she resided with them for the past three years. Annie is also survived by grandchildren: Lexie, Calum, Tracey, Meagher and Donald; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Annie will be especially remembered for her loving dedication to her husband and family together with over 50 years of friendly service to the community of Pictou through her stores and taxi business employing so many Pictonians through the years. Even with her very long work days, she was never too busy to help someone in need. In addition to her kindness and generosity to people, she had a passion for pets as many a stray dog or cat could attest, if they could only talk.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Valley View Villa for the kindness shown to Annie during her two month stay. A special thank you to “Baird”, who touched Annie’s heart with his professional and caring manner.
There will be no visitation, however you are invited to attend a memorial service in her honor at St. James Anglican Church, Pictou on Sunday, August 18 at 3 p.m. A reception at the church hall will follow the interment at Seaview Cemetery.
