Elliott, Mildred Florence (nee, Gardner), 79, of Canning, Kings County, Nova Scotia, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by her family. Born on May 11, 1929, in Leonardville, Deere Island, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Tewksbury) Gardner. She was a professional seamstress and had worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company throughout the Maritimes. She had also worked for the Canadian Bible Society as a bookkeeper and store manager in Halifax. Over the years, she gave her time and talents to many church and charitable organizations. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rev. Waldo Elliott; her children, Ron (Marcia), West Brooklyn Mountain; Jocelyn (Dale) Robinson, Brackley Beach, P.E.I.; twins, Andrew (Sandra), North Gower, Ontario, and Timothy (Lisa), Centreville; grandchildren, Christopher Elliott; Erin, Sarah and Matthew Robinson; Sam and Lila Elliott; Adam Chute and Eilish and Hanna Elliott; brother, Rev. Horace Gardner, Kentville; sister, Edna McGinty, Moncton, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Marie Gardner. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor, N.S., with Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. A private family interment will be at the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, N.S. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the V.O.N. or to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
