BATES, JOHN ALEXANDER (ALEX) - 1984-2013 - Alex Bates of Riverview passed away suddenly after a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, August 18, 2013. Born in Moncton, he was the son of John and Judith Bates (Lambly). Alex had a love and passion for cooking, having earned and received his Red Seal Certificate in Culinary Arts. He was employed with Dents and Stones in Riverview and thoroughly enjoyed outdoor activities such as motorcycling and mountain biking - anything that involved the wind in his face and the feeling of freedom and adrenaline. Alongside his parents, Alex will be dearly missed by his brother, Jesse (Lisa Burrell) of Osborne Corner; his cherished nieces Cassidy and Kennedy; maternal grandmother, Anne E. Lambly; aunts, Dorothy (Richard) Gabbey; Cathy (Ross) Bates; Anne Somers; uncles, Peter (Judith) Lambly, Russell Lambly; David (Vicki) Bates; and several cousins.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A service celebrating Alex's life will take place from Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel at 1 PM on Thursday, August 22 with Rev. Wendy Amos-Binks officiating. No flowers by request. Donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Dialysis Unit at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
