Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on Monday, August 19th, 2013, Philomena Croke of Marysvale, NL, age 76 years. Pre-deceased by her loving husband,Thomas on February 3rd, 2007 and her parents Edward and Elizabeth Mason of Avondale, N.L.; her parents-in-law Thomas and Margaret Croke of Marysvale, N.L.; her sisters Anne Mason, Rosella Dowden and Geraldine Tremblett, and her brother Clarence Mason. Also pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Geraldine Mason, James Croke, Tom Simms, Cliff McHugh, Gerry McDonald, and Bob Pearcey. Leaving to mourn her nine children: Brenda McHugh (Chris), Rosalind Efford (Brett), Derek (Colleen), Tom (Charissa), Gerard (Vina), David (Darlene), Derm (Wanda), Anne Bartlett (Ernie), and Gary (Carolyn); her 14 grandchildren whom she cherished: Jillian and Christie, Darrell and Mark, Deidre, Valerie, Devin, David J., Bethany and Rylan, Joel, and Martin, Jenna and Thomas. Her brothers and sisters: Gabrielle Doyle (Melvin), Lorraine Pearcey, Linus Mason (Joan), and Gordon Mason (Minette); her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary McHugh, Joan Simms, Sue McDonald, Jack Croke, Harvey Tremblett (Mary) and Anne Mason; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Resting at Broughtons Funeral Home in Brigus, N.L. on Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, August 21st, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held from Our Lady of the Snows RC Church in Marysvale, NL on Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at RC Cemetery in Brigus, NL. Special thanks to the staff of the Hoyles Escasoni on West 1 where Mom was a resident for the last three months, and PCU where she was a resident for the last 3 1/2 years who were like our second family. Also special thanks to the staff on North 1 for their care and compassion during the last couple of days, and thank you to Dr. F.K.
