Terrance Morton Solmes of Kamloops passed away on August, 23 2013. He was 72 years of age.
Survived by his loving wife Violet, and children Billy Solmes of Northbay, Brian Solmes and wife Valarie of Montreal, Robert Solmes of Vancouver, Tiffany-Lee Solmes of Toronto. Grandchildren Justin, Tia, Jamie, and Jenna.
Predeceased by Sister Lee and Grandson Andrew.
Terry was born in Saskatoon, Sask. where he lived until he left for work in Hamilton, Ontario, where he met Violet. They were married in 1966. In 1968 they moved to Sudbury, Ontario where he worked for INCO Nickle Refinery for 32 years.
Violet and Terry raised four children, and in 1999 retired to Kamloops where they were very happy for 13 years.
Terry had friends from Sudbury to Kamloops. Friends and family adored his quirky sense of humor and wonderful grin. Terry was a good neighbour and quick to lend a hand to anyone. He was a devoted father and husband and did everything he could to make his wife's life as easy as possible and did it with love and devotion. He loved fishing, and cross stitch which he made as beautiful as most women. He also made afghans for his friends, children and grandchildren, and just finished for his grandson expected in November.
Terry was a talented wood-worker and made a solid cedar deck himself. He also looked forward to playing cards with his special Tuesday night friends. You could often find Terry spending many hours on his beautiful yard with his faithful friend Duchess.
We would like to thank all the friends and neighbours that helped during his illness. A special thanks to Sandy and Joe Sanky, Dr. Montabette, Dr. Gorman, and the compassionate Nurses of 5 South.
Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Red Cross.
Open House on August 29, 2013 from 200 p.m. to 400 p.m. at 689 Tranquille Rd., Kamloops, B.C. The Common Room.
