JOYCE, RICHARD DAVID - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of a loving husband, father, brother and uncle, Richard David Joyce, which occurred on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Saint John on October 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Morrisey) Joyce. Rick was employed as a Division Manager with Inspectorate, a career he truly enjoyed. He was also a skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work. Rick was an avid golfer and a dedicated hockey fan. He also loved a good baseball game and more recently enjoyed shooting pool. Most of all, Rick was a true family man who always treasured the times spent with his beloved wife and family. Rick is survived by his wife, Laureen (Shannon) Joyce; sons, Richard (Christina) and Matthew (Gina); sisters, Shirley Coates (Harvey), Kathy Pickett (Dana), Mary Lou Reid (Charles) and brother, Daniel (Sharon); as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 541 Milford Road, Saint John West, on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
