Pieter Wolters
WOLTERS, PIETER - Pieter Wolters of Keswick Ridge, NB, husband to Ann (DeKlerk) for 60+ years passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous three month battle with multiple cancers on August 28, 2013. Pieter was born in Holland on June 5, 1932 to the late Biense and Boukje (VanderVeen) Wolters, and immigrated with his family and parents to Canada in 1950. Pieter and Ann started their married life working in construction in Calgary and moved to NB in 1961 to take up their dream of farming. They operated Woltripp Dairy Farm in Keswick for over 31 years before retiring and leaving the farm operation to their daughter (Nettie) and her husband (Glen). Pete - Dad - Grampie - as he was known to his family and friends, was one of the founding members of the Fredericton Christian Reformed Church, Greater Fredericton Christian School Society, Fredericton Bibles for Missions store, as well as the Men and Women Society. He was active as a volunteer canvasser for Cancer Society and Heart & Stroke. He also enjoyed spending time in his gardens and woodworking; he was an avid card player. Besides his wife Ann, Pieter is also survived by five daughters; Barbara (Ed) Wesselius, Nettie (Glen) Pye, Annie (Kevin) Smith, Jennifer (Burton) Foster, Sheryl Wolters, and four sons; Rick (Sam) Wolters, Ben (Joy) Wolters, Peter (Frances) Wolters, Sidney Wolters. He also leaves behind 25 grand children and 18 great grand children, his siblings; Dick, Ida, Leonard, Nellie, Clara, Jennie, Susan, and Gary. As well, many nieces, nephews and friends will be mourning his passing.
At Pete's request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Fredericton Christian Reformed Church, 121 McAdam Ave, Nashwaaksis, on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2pm with Pastor Harold A.Winter officiating. A reception will be held in the church basement following the service. Interment will be in the Pickard-Merrithew Cemetery.
