PATTERSON, Irene Helen -87, of the Shiretown Nursing Home and formerly of High Street, Pictou passed away September 3, 2013 in the home. Born in Germany, she came to Canada as a war bride. Irene was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou and the Branch 16, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her great passion and favourite pastime was the C.B. Radio Club, but she also loved bingo, knitting, and socializing. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and foster mother to many. Surviving are her daughter, Maryann (Alfie) Rondelet, Pictou; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; and nieces, Annamarie Plateau and Zigrid Keiblier in Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; and her brothers and sisters in Germany. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. Burial will be in Haliburton Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
