After a rich full life, Michael Emile (Mel) Taweel, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Beach Grove Home, with his loving wife Lila by his side. He was in his 81st year. Mel is survived by his wife, Lila (nee Abu Jamara) and their four children, Jeannette, James (Lois), Stephen and Douglas (Tracey). His two grandchildren, Robert and Emily, will also greatly miss him. Mel was one of nine children and was predeceased by his parents, Nakaad and Badia Taweel and brother, James. He is survived by siblings, Amelia, Solomon (Vera), Hanna, Peter (Diane), Paul (Barbara), Helen (Ray) and Abdullah (Karen), along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Joseph Jabbour and George Ghiz. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home until Tuesday morning then transferred to St. Peters Cathedral for funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in St. Peters Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel’s memory may be made to St. Peters Cathedral Building Fund or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
