Percy Hopey
HOPEY, PERCY DOUGLAS – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Percy Douglas Hopey which occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, September 6th, 2013. Born 1924, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Ira Daniel and Mabel (Collins). Percy worked for Rothesay Paper for over 25 years. He was a member of the Orange Lodge for 50 years, LOL #16 and also member and former trustee at St. Martins Baptist Church. Percy enjoyed hunting, fishing and cherished the visits of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. Percy will be sadly missed by his loving wife Norveline (McLeod) of 61 years; daughter Kimberley Robinson (Alan) of West Quaco, NB; son Rodney of Fort MacMurray, AB; sisters Alfreda Holland of St. Martins, Myrtle MacDonald of Saint John; grandchildren Scott Robinson (Rose) and Derek Robinson (Jacqueline) and Charlotte Hopey; great-grandchildren Victoria, Audrey and Alexander; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Percy was predeceased by brothers Harry, Clarence and Walter and sister Elizabeth Morrell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held from St. Martin’s Baptist Church on Monday, September 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the church on Tuesday, September 10th at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at St. Martins Community Cemetery.
