STELLARTON – Marie Stella MacDonald, age 91 of Bunkerhill, Stellarton, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Mary (Murphy) Urquhart.
Marie was a lifelong resident of Stellarton. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are sons: Elwood MacDonald, Trenton; Simon (Mary) MacDonald, Pictou Landing; Tommy MacDonald, Edmonton; Jim MacDonald, Stellarton; daughters: Mary (Fred) Hughes, Stellarton; Colleen (John) Fraser, Mark Rd., Riverton; Rose (Doug) Therrien, Edmonton; chosen daughter, Patsy Smith, Trenton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Simon in 1985.
Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Society in honor of her special granddaughter Shawna MacDonald.
