MacLeod, Darrell Willis, 81, of Valley, Col. Co., passed away Saturday, Sept. 14th, 2013 in Vimy Court, Acadian Lane, Bible Hill, with his family by his side. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Harry and Marcella (Clarke) McLeod. Darrell attended Horton Academy in Wolfville. He enjoyed traveling, cruises and his many trips to Florida and the Dominican Republic; his fishing trips in Nova Scotia and northern Quebec and Ontario. He enjoyed summer camping with his family and was a quiet dedicated family man. He was formerly very active in hockey, rugby, football and curling over the years. He was a season ticket holder to the Truro Bearcats. He was a collector of baseball caps and anything with elephants.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marylyn (Brown) MacLeod; children, Diane MacLeod (Sandy Rudolph), Michael MacLeod (Krista), Heather Buckley (Brian), Danny MacLeod (JoAnne); grandchildren Tammy, Michelle, Jason, Andrew, Justin; great-grandchildren Mikey, Mya; brothers Gerald McLeod, Gary McLeod (Robin); brother-in-law and best friend John “Jack” Ward; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Harry McLeod; sisters Angela Frizzell, Betty Tedford, Faye Miller, June James.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Monday evening and where funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 2:00 pm. The Rev Lori Ramsey and Rev. Jean Ward will officiate with interment to follow in Gladstone Cemetery, Six Mile Brook, Pictou County. Donations in Darrell’s memory may be made to Vimy Court Recreational Department or a charity of choice. A special thank you to Rev.
