Date de décès : 21 septembre 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father grandfather, brother and friend, Chris Anthony Christiansen. Chris Anthony passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Germany, he was the son of the late Edward and Ella (Lundius) Christiansen and was a former member of St. James Church, Gardiner Mines.
He was a carpenter by trade, a trade he truly enjoyed for the past 35 years and was a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Union, Local 1588 in Sydney. He also enjoyed getting to know the people he did work for over the years; many of whom he considered as good friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades being able to turn his hand to any task when a problem arose. As a young man Chris Anthony worked for years on his family owned dairy farm in Gardiner Mines.
He was a very outgoing man and loved all the conversations he had with his wealth of friends. Chris Anthony loved spending time with his family, especially watching his special granddaughter Miranda barrel racing and watching his other grandchildren playing basketball.
Chris Anthony will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Frances (McNeil); son, Edward (Sherry) Gardiner Mines; daughters Kimberly (Daniel), Alberta, Wendy (Wesley), Gardiner Mines; his five grandchildren, Miranda ”His Baby Girl”, Chelsea “His Little Girl”, Dawson “His Best Buddy” and Anthony and Austin ”His Little Men”; sister, Erika, Gardiner Mines; brothers Jens, Alberta, Peter (Kim), Eddie (Debbie), both of Gardiner Mines; brother-in-law, Morley Miller, Winnipeg; special nephew Peter Shannon, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his K9 companion Myah. He will also be sadly missed by all his great friends at A & P Transmission.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Monica Miller.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 from 7–9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home. A funeral mass officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. in St. Eugene’s Church Dominion. A reception will follow in the church hall.
