It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jim Grant announce his passing on Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 69 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife, Verna; children: Jamie (Danette), St. John’s and Matthew (Tanya), Ottawa; two grandchildren: Ryan and Jenna; special stepdaughter Desiree (William) Gover, Small Point; step grandson Philip Gover, Small Point; sister: Patricia (Ed) Clarke, St. John’s; brother Brian (Sharon) Grant, St. John’s; sisters-in-law: Bernice Stratton (Mike Parent), Ottawa, Maude Miles, Corner Brook and Rene Miles, Toronto; brother-in-law Lorne (Jessie) Miles, Corner Brook; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his birth father, James Courage; parents Veronica and Jack Grant; and brother-in-law Gerald Miles. Granting his wishes, cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Marks Avenue Thursday at 1:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Marilyn Avery officiating. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flower’s donations may be made to the Cancer Society or to the SPCA.
