Barbara was born in Pleasant Valley, Prince Edward Island. She became a Registered Nurse, then attended the University of Toronto to specialize in public health. In 1952, she moved to St. Paul, Alberta, where she met and married Robin in 1955. They have made Leduc their home since 1961.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Robin; her sons, Peter of Calgary, Ross (Elizabeth) of Ottawa and Philip (Muriel) of Leduc; grandchildren, Steven, Meaghan, Jillian, Jessica and Luke; sisters, Evelyn and Laura; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Mary of P.E.I., Velma of Lethbridge and Kay of Fort McLeod; brother-in-law, Ivan (MaryAnne) of Vernon; and extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at St. David's United Church, 4614 - 48 Street, Leduc, AB.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, 10985 - 124 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5M 0H9.
