It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph 'Fuzzy' Routledge, 50, of Glace Bay.
Raymond passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, Raymond was the son of the late John Walter ‘Sonny' and Patricia Marie 'Patsy' (Marsh) Routledge. Raymond was employed with Joe Parsons and Louis Yates in construction. He also was a former employee of the Main Event. In his earlier years, Raymond was involved in a lot of sports such as broomball, baseball and hockey.
He was a Boston Bruins fan. Raymond was known to his family and friends as a loyal and generous person with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. One of his favourite pastimes was going to “the country" and spending time with families he grew up with during the summers on the Mira.
Raymond will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Darlene (Boutilier); cherished daughter, Raylyn, who was the absolute joy of his life. Also surviving are his two brothers, John (Starlene), Calgary, Michael (Tanya), Dominion; sister, Deborah (Gary) Fraser, Glace Bay; godson, Shaun Boutilier; many nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles and cousins
Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Henry 'Fuff' and Sarah 'Sally' Marsh and paternal grandparents, Cameron 'Tony' and Catherine 'Katie' Routledge.
In honoring Raymond’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Raymond Routledge will be held 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
