Rex Leland Trask
TRASK, Rex Leland – 73, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, September 30, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born December 26, 1939, in Digby, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Freda (Tidd) Trask. Rex was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Official Board and was a member of the Men’s Group and Bible study group. He worked at the Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre as a councillor for 35 years and retired in 1993. He and Beulah loved to travel in their motorhome and enjoyed eating out at various places. A true gentleman, Rex was a kind and loving husband, devoted father, mild tempered and soft spoken to all. Rex is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Beulah Marie (Lane); sons, Christopher (Kathy) Trask, Burton, New Brunswick; Derek (Tammy) Trask, Okotoks, Alberta; daughters, Juanita (Bobby) Langille, Fredericton, New Brunswick; Janice (Dale) Bissonette, Truro; Glenda (Kevin) Roy, East Mountain; Shelley Trask-Smith (Michael Cassidy), Truro; grandchildren, Kristin Langille, Brian (Heather) Langille, Lauren (Shawn) Campbell, Ryan Bissonette (Becky), Stephanie (Kurt) Sheppard, Scott Smith, Lindsay (Ryan) Weatherbee, Stephen, Jennifer; aunt, Avis Gidney, Little River, Digby County; cousins, Carolyn Milbury, Digby; Michael Trask, Yarmouth; in-laws, Georgie (Myles) Rushton, Sutherland’s Lake; Emily (Cliff) Lane, Portapique; very good friend, Ron Harris, Truro; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Candace; two brothers in infancy; sister-in-law, Marjorie Hayward; in-laws, Keith (Helen) Lane. The family would like to thank Judy Newell, Basil Hoare, Cathy Hayward and Evelyn and Jack Patriquin for all your kindness and assistance given during Rex’s illness; to our church family for their prayers and support and to Dr. Neil Bower, Dr. Henderson and all the caring nursing staff on the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Rex’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013, Pastor Jacquie Ross officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will be held in Mahon Cemetery, 8480 Highway 2, Great Village. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Rex’s memory to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or St. James Presbyterian Church (General Fund) are welcomed.
