The family of Marjorie Anne Jukes (Snell) is saddened to announce her peaceful passing with family by her side on Friday September 27, 2013, during a brief time at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She was born August 11, 1933 at Briercrest, SK where she attended school until Grade 10. She completed her schooling in Nokomis where her sister Decima (Len) Fenske farmed, while her mother and father returned to England after the war. Marj worked for a short time with SaskTel in Regina. She met and married Harral Jukes on June 21, 1951.They started their life together working on the farm near Ormistion, SK, but moved to Moose Jaw in 1954 where Harral started his career with the Moose Jaw City Police. They raised six children in Moose Jaw moving for a time to Craik, Simpson and then back to Moose Jaw where they continued their new career in the farm equipment industry. Marj enjoyed many years working with the UCW, Mount Pleasant Community Club, Pythian Sisters, helping both federally and provincially with the her political party, as well she enjoyed bowling, curling and attending her children’s many activities. Marj and Harral were fortunate to have had travelled extensively through their business activities plus many trips with family and friends to parts of Canada, the U.S. and abroad. In retirement they spent 15 winters in Osoyoos, BC. Marj was predeceased by her parents Clara and Decimus Snell; parents–in–law Tom and Lily Jukes; younger sister Lenora; brothers Bill and Albert; sisters-in-law Marlene Snell, May Neveroskie, Dorothy Rice/Barton and Violet Jukes; brothers-in-law Bill Jukes, Ignace Neveroskie, Bert Barton, Chester Rice, Len Fenske and Stan Shepherd; nieces and nephews Mae Sinclair (Barton), Linda Johnston (Shepherd), Jamie Snell and grandnephew Mark Doucette (Fenske). Marj will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Harral; daughters Wendy Nelson/ Kingston, Pamela Longdale; sons, David (Mary LaBelle), Richard (Karen Birkett), Tom (Jackie Anderson), Ron (Allison Litt); grandchildren, Rayleen (Cory) Valentine -Cash and Lauren; Ryan (Jenn) Kingston-Eeva; Gillian (Darcy) Olson – Chelsa, Danica and Kallen; Brookes Nelson; Justin (Meagan) Longdale; Chelsea (Tim) August-Jake; Vanessa Jukes (Colin); Rom Jukes; Eden Jukes; Chance Jukes; Guy Jukes–Aubrey; Patrick Jukes; Sam Jukes; Jory Litt-Jukes; Joel Litt-Jukes; as well as Ray Kingston, Art Nelson, Andrew Longdale; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrews Church, 60 Athabasca St East, Moose Jaw. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. A social celebrating Marjorie’s life will follow at the Moose Jaw Legion at 7:00 pm. The family invites all family and friends to attend. Visitation will be held on Friday October 4, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel. A further visitation and viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at noon on Saturday.
