Mary Loretta Icard (Mahoney)

Mary Loretta (Mahoney) Icard, 83, of Newburgh, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, October 1, 2013, while reciting the Rosary. She was born August 8, 1930 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, to Michael and Hannah Mahoney.
Loretta grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland and married Ray Icard January 12, 1953 in the Basilica of St. John The Baptist in St. John's. They moved to Evansville in 1973 and Newburgh in 1985. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. A radiant personality who made instant and lasting friends with whomever she met. She was a Pink Lady at St. Mary's Hospital, loved to travel and was a member of St. Benedicts Cathedral.
Loretta was preceded in death by son, Shawn; parents; and brother, Pat.
She is survived by her husband Ray; daughter Marla Bentsen and her husband Arthur, their sons Ned and Shane, of Newburgh; daughter Michele Atterson and her daughter Sarah of Indianapolis; sisters Joanie and her children, Roxanne, Simone and Gus of St. John's, Newfoundland; Iris Stalker and her husband Ronald, of Anchorage, Alaska; Ramona Barnes and her children Sherri, Stacey and Gary of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shelia Wilson of Denver, Colo.; brother Michael and his wife April and daughters Tara, Michele and Megan of Vancouver, British Columbia; children of her brother Pat, nephew Shane Mahoney and his children Kalem and MeKaela; niece Tara Pennell and her husband Lloyd, their sons Justin and Josh; niece Hannah and her daughter Chaelah of St. John's and Kelly Gibson and her husband Roger, and daughter Olivia of Vancouver, British Columbia.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mark Browning and staff at Oncology and Hematology Associates for their outstanding care and friendship of the past three and a half years.
