It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Patricia White. Patricia passed away at her residence on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Gillis) MacDonnell and was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay.
Patricia had interests in both politics and sports. She truly enjoyed watching or listening to election debates and results whether they were federal, provincial or regional. She was an avid sports fan, with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs being her favourite teams. She also enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, skating and spending time with her loving family. In her earlier years she was employed with Eaton’s, Metropolitan Store and the Telephone & Telegraph Company in Sudbury, Ont.
Patricia will be sadly missed her daughter, Marianita (Brad) Turner, Glace Bay; sons, Blair, Oshawa, Ont., Glenn (Arlene), Trenton, Ont., Chris, Halifax; sister, Beatrice Warcop, Reserve Mines; cherished grandchildren, Allison Turner (Ronnie Morrison), Mark Turner, Jonathan Turner (Chantal LeBlanc), Sean Turner, Megan White, Emma White; great-grandchildren, Brianna Turner, Nathan, Parker and Samantha Morrison and Carley LeBlanc. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband, Murray in 2010; brothers, John A., Ben, Paul, Johnny, Colin, Joseph, Gus; sisters, Florence, Annie, Rose, Pauline, Theresa, May and Mary.
In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. A luncheon will follow the mass. Interment will take place in St. Anne’s Parish Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Patricia, memorial donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
