SMITH, Audrey June – 84, Townsview Estates, formerly of Masstown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday morning, October 3, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born June 6, 1929, in East Mines, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Verona (Crowe) Lambourne. In earlier years, Audrey was an active member of Masstown United Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the UCW and could always be counted on to bake or cook for a church function. Many will remember her as a fantastic baker and cook and for her love of bowling. Audrey is survived by her children, Brian (Judy) Smith, Bible Hill; Craig (Kenda) Smith, Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren, Josh Smith, Alicia Smith, Taneesha Smith, Johnnie (Christina) Smith, Nathan (Shirley) Smith; several great grandchildren and step grandchildren; brother, Dale (Ardith) Lambourne, Masstown; brother-in-law, Charles Elliott, Truro; special friend, Eddie Anthony, Townsview Estates; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Doris Elliott, Betty Lambourne; long-time companion, Carl Thompson. Special thanks are exntended to Audrey’s family doctor, Dr. Graham, and to Dr. Henderson and the entire Palliative Care Team at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Audrey’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, October 5, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013, Carol Gillard, M.Div. officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Masstown Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Audrey’s memory to Palliative Care Unit (CEHHC) are welcomed.
