Jackie White, 87, of Mansfield Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital An Cala Unit.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Somerton) MacDonald.
Jackie was a member of St. Anthony’s Church. In her younger years she was employed as a nursing assistant at the Glace Bay General Hospital. She loved playing bingo and cards. Jackie was a very private and quiet lady.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet MacPherson (Billy), Glace Bay, Linda Shaw (Joseph), Ontario; two sons, Glenn White (Diane), New Waterford, Darrell White, B.C.; one sister, Kaye Jackson (Bobby), Glace Bay; one brother, Buddy MacDonald (May), P.E.I.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and her best friend and sister-in-law, Sis Gallant, Reserve Mines.
Jackie was predeceased by her husband, James Albert ‘Booty’ White in 1983 and two brothers, Edward and Murray.
There will be no visitation or funeral mass. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private burial will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.
