Donald Canning

Date de décès : 18 septembre 2008

Don Canning of Shediac passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 in Charlottetown. Don had just enjoyed a wonderful day at the track before his passing. Born in Springhill, N.S., he was the son of the late Arthur and Agnes (Paterson-Marr) Canning. Don was an avid horse enthusiast, a member of the Moncton and District Standard Bred Association. Over the years he classified horses and was a presiding judge: he was very involved with Brunswick Downs. During his tenure with the City of Moncton he was in charge of marketing and promotions, at the time of his retirement he was the business manager of the Moncton Hawks hockey club. Besides a love for horses, his grandchildren were his passion. He is survived by his son, Randy Canning (Pam Walsh) of Riverview and daughter, Leesa Steeves (Chris) of Fredericton, sister, Mary Clark of Ottawa and four loving grandchildren; Becky and Ricky Canning; Jeremy and Samantha Steeves; a special friend Pat Fownes. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorna (Steeves) Canning; brothers Bill and Art; sisters Margaret, Eleanor and Loretta.
