Margaret Jean Macnevin

Age 83 of Halifax, passed away September 19, 2008, at home. Born in Coleman, P.E.I., she was the daughter of Lyman “Moody” and Sarah “Sadie” (MacPhee) Lockhart. Margaret worked during the Second World War at an airplane-manufacturing factory in Toronto. She, along with her husband, were members St. Matthews United Church, Halifax, for many years, and then Rockingham United Church for several years. Margaret had worked at Sears and the YMCA. She was an avid card player, and especially enjoyed bridge, crib and auction. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cottage in East Bideford, P.E.I.. Margaret was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, and a gracious host — all were welcome at her home and cottage. She is survived by her daughters Beth (Mark) Crosby, Wolfville, Holly MacNevin (Jim Reid), Lake Echo, Nicola MacNevin, Halifax; sons Gregory (Margaret) MacNevin, Souris, P.E.I., Alex MacNevin and daughter-in-law Mary MacNevin, both of Halifax; sister Marjorie MacCaull, Ellerslie, P.E.I.. She was a special Nana to 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by husband Athol MacNevin and brothers Lorne, John and David Lockhart. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Rockingham United Church, Rev. Paulette Phillips officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be held Wednesday 3 p.m. in Bideford United Church Cemetery, Bideford, P.E.I.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bideford United Church Cemetery.
