John Vernon Crockett
CROCKETT, John Vernon – 65, Truro, passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, on Monday, October 14, 2013, at home. Born March 6, 1948, in East Mountain, he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Frizzell) Crockett. John was a truck driver and worked for many different trucking companies including Taylor Trucking and Stan Hanes Trucking and most recently worked with Edward and Wade Dickie. John is survived by his sisters, Ola Crowe, Elizabeth MacDonald, Deb Crowe, Cora McIntyre; all of Truro; Priscilla “Sue” (Tom) McCallum, Kingston, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Ella Crockett, Bible Hill; Elva Jeffers, Kingston, Ontario; many nieces, nephews and close friends, including Wade Dickie and Ross Dewar. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Edward in infancy; Stanley, Joe. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where John’s family will receive friends from 3:30-5, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013, Reverend Cory Somers officiating. Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only.
