It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Campbell, on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at her home.
Born in Halifax, Betty was lovingly raised by her grandparents the late John and Annabelle Morrison.
She worked for many years as a bus and lunch supervisor at St. Joseph School in North Sydney and later with her husband Earl at their business, Campbell’s Sheet Metal & Crafts. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid bingo player. She was very active in the lives of her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Chris) Whalen, Sydney Mines; and son, Darryl (Kelly), Kemptville, Ont.; her grandchildren, Catie and Ethan Campbell and Tyler Whalen. Also surviving are her two sisters, Ann Marie (Blair) Fraser and Florence (Harry) Taylor, both of North Sydney.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Earl Campbell, her son, Gerald, her mother, Ann Brown and stepfather, Walter Brown.
Visitation for Betty will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital.
