It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Emilio Pace, 74, of Glace Bay. Emilio passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, Emilio was the son of the late John and Mary Catherine 'MC' (Steele) Pace. He was an icon in the plaster and drywall business and was told by many he was “The Best in Cape Breton”. He was a member of Holy Cross Church. He loved to do crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed fishing, lob ball, baseball, hockey and was an avid Habs fan. He was a member of the mixed dart league at Caledonia Club. Emilio loved to dance. He had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh and sing.
Emilio will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Lorna (nee Clare); son, David (Trish), Glace Bay; daughters, Bernadette (Walter) Sampson, Port Morien, Bonnie (Doug) Marshall, Glace Bay, Annalee (David) Hyde, Kitchener, Ont., Lorraine (Stan) Saccary, Glace Bay, Shannon (Craig) Smith, Fort St. John, B.C.; sister, Lorraine (Bill) Jacques, Mira; brother, Gary, Glace Bay. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and best friend, K-9 companion, Bonnie.
Besides his parents, Emilio was predeceased by a sister, Shirley McNeil, son-in-law, Kenny Hoffman.
Visitation for Emilio will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday, Oct. 21) in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Cremation will follow.
Donations in Emilio’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
