Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, with the love and support of her loving family, of Amelia Marie Knox, beloved wife of the late Leslie Knox, of the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home, Tignish, and formerly of Skinners Pond, in her 90th year. Born at Nail Pond, on November 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rosalie (nee Arsenault) Bernard. Loving mother to Gerard (Janet) of Halifax, N.S.; Connie (late Gary) Rennie of Elmsdale; Owen (Faye) of Horsefly, B.C.; Gary (Heather) of Howlan; James (Francine) of Skinners Pond; Justina (Clifford) Doucette of St. Felix; Anne (Henry) Doucette of Tignish; Lee (Kim) of Skinners Pond; and Barbara (Michael) Myers of Harper Road. Cherished grandmother to: Matthew, Zachary, and Morgan Knox; Benjie and Chad Rennie; Jeffrey, Jason, Rebbecca (nee Knox) Johnson and El Cohen; Jenny and Duncan Knox; Leslie, Jordan, Bennett and Isaac Knox; Owen, Andrew and Elizabeth Doucette; Sarah, Simon and Oliver Doucette; Kari, Bruce, Jesse and Sadie Knox; and Stephen and Erin Myers. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren. Dear sister to Leoni (late Leo) Gaudet of Harper Road, Gerard (Auldine) Bernard of Nail Pond, Velma (late Lorne) Knox of Halifax, and Rose Marie (Edward) Gaudet of Summerside. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 1979 and by her son Bruce in 1986, a brother Cyrus Bernard, and by a sister Anne Gaudet. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass on Wednesday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish at 11 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. The Tignish council of the CWL will hold prayers for their departed member Tuesday eveing at 6:45 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the IWK children's hospital, the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.
