GILLIS, CARL ERSKINE - The passing of Carl Erskine Gillis of Fredericton, NB, husband of Monica (MacPhail) Gillis occurred on Friday, October 18, 2013, at home. Born on March 29, 1949 in Summerside, PEI, he was the son of the late Henry “Erskine” and Thelma Edith (Broom) Gillis. Carl loved the outdoors, especially his annual fishing trip to the Miramichi, he also enjoyed reading, music, gardening and travel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Mabel MacPhail; sister-in-law, Vivian MacPhail of Fredericton, NB and brother-in-law, Vaughn MacPhail of Dartmouth, NS; nieces, nephew and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Verne Tarrant and Eleanor VanVugt.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 6 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at All Saints Anglican Church, Canada Street, Marysville on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2 pm with Canon John Cathcart officiating.
