MURRAY, Marjorie Louise – 96, Lower Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday morning, October 23, 2013, at the home of her caregiver, Elizabeth Blair. Born January 15, 1917, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Ida (Barrett) Goode. Marjorie was a member of Old Barns United Church, where she was a member of the UCW and sang in the church choir. She and her husband owned and operated Murray’s Cottages in River John. (Now MacLeod’s Cottages) Marjorie and her family cherished the memories of time spent at the cottages in River John; her family and their well-being were most important to her. She loved to garden and enjoyed the company of her feline companion, Sam. Marjorie is survived by her children, Colin (Yvonne) Murray, Chester; Susan Murray-Rifici (Joe Rifici), New Zealand; Heather (Russ) Shandro, Vegerville, Alberta; grandchildren, Scott Murray (Megan), Lee Murray (Laura), Bret Shandro, Kirk Shandro, Reece Shandro; great grandchildren, Kyle, Leia and Jacey Murray; nieces, Erin Reeves, Holly Andreosso. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur Chapman Murray; sister, Pauline (Glen) Starr; brother, Harold (Babe) Goode. Special thanks are extended to Elizabeth Blair for her outstanding care and love shown to our mother and us over the last year and a half. Marjorie’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, October 24, 2013, at Old Barns United Church, 2603 Highway 236, Old Barns, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, Reverend Ian Harrison officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date in Lockerby Cemetery, Tatamagouche. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Marjorie’s memory to SPCA are welcomed.
