Suddenly in Calgary, Alberta, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, while visiting family of Donald C. Steele of Charlottetown. Don was born on July 2, 1933, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Loving and beloved husband of Helen Steele (nee Brehm). Father of Laura (David Boyle), Marina (Edmund O’Connor), Marcus (Elisabeth), Darby (Marie), Cara (Robert Wood), Lisa, Matthew, Sean, Pamela (Tim Kessler) and Andrea. Grandfather to Cody, Alexa, Kathryn, Alec, Fiona, Victoria, Harper, Alysha, Bronwyn and Katherine. Predeceased by daughter, Paula and his parents, Charles and Milly Steele. After moving to P.E.I. in 1974 and following his retirement, Don volunteered many hours to Knights of Columbus, Columbian Squires and various choirs within the churches. Don became very active in organizing pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupre, Cap de Madeliene, Washington and New York. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home until Monday at 9:45, then to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visitation Sunday, September 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. St. Pius X Council 6917 of the Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. All knights welcome.
