James Terrence “Terry” Holland, of Summerside and formerly of Halifax, died peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Thursday, November 7, 2013, in his 75th year. Beloved husband to Vivian (Hall) Holland, to whom he was married for 52 years. Survived by son Thomas (Lorraine) Holland, granddaughter Heather Marie, Sydney, Australia; daughter Heather (Stephen) Matheson, grandsons Tyler and Spencer, Crapaud; sisters Cathy (Gerald) Pillon, Virginia Holland, Madeline Wright; sisters-in-law Barbara Holland, and Mary Holland. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Barbara (Johnson) Holland; David, Charles "Bun", Thomas (Joan) and Clyde Holland; sisters Barbara (Eric) Walker, Sheila (Edward) Carriere, and Brenda Dronyk; and by brother-in-law Norman Wright. Terry began his container shipping career in Halifax, later moving to Montreal and returning to Halifax in 1983, retiring in 2003. He joined the Corps of Commissionaires until relocating to Summerside in 2008. Terry was a proud member of the Reserve of the Royal Montreal Regiment and Princess Louise Fusiliers. Terry was a perfectionist in all his endeavours, especially enjoyed yard sales, antique and coin collecting, and above all, anything related to history. He was very social, enjoyed being around family and friends, never missed a dance, excelling in the jive. Special thanks to staff of Summerset Manor for their care, compassion and exemplary care of Terry through his long journey. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Tuesday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment at a later date in Elmsdale Cemetery, Elmsdale, NS. Visiting hours Monday from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of PEI, the Aplastic Anemia & Myelodysplasia Association of Canada, or to a Charity of your Choice would be appreciated.
