It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Garland who died peacefully at Inverary Manor, Inverness, N.S., on Nov. 16, 2013.
He was the son of the late Joe and Alice (MacMillan) Garland.
He was a construction truck driver for Martell’s Construction for 25 years before retiring. His passion was for horses, trucks and watching TV.
He will be sadly missed by his four daughters, Lynn, Velda (Eugene), Scarina and Verne; sister, Edith Morrison; brother, Charles (Norma);grandchildren, Selwyn, Margaret Ann, Shawn, Dereck and Victoria, Katelyn, Scott and his great-grandchildren, Jamee, MacKenzie, Breton, Logyn and Jack, Isla and Cooper.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Elma, baby sister, Hannah, brother Kenneth, sister-in-law, Elda, brother-in-law, William Morrison and son-in-law, John Johnston.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. Funeral will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery, Baddeck Forks.
