Kenneth "Ken" Harvey
HARVEY, KENNETH “KEN” G. - It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kenneth “Ken” Gilbert Harvey, age 80 years, of French Village, NB, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Born at Beaverdam, NB, he was a son of the late Garnet A. and Marjorie I. (Ryder) Harvey. Ken was a Licensed Mechanic by trade and the automotive industry became his lifelong passion. For over 40 years he was a faithful and loyal employee for the Vaughan Family, first working at Capital Garage and then Auto Machinery. For a short time he worked for J. Clark and Sons where he made many lasting friendships. Ken was very passionate about his community and was very “hands on” when it came to volunteering. He was a dedicated 50 year member of the Upper Kingsclear Volunteer Fire Department where he proudly held the position of Deputy Fire Chief. He also was a member of the Mick Mack Trailer Club for 29 years and always enjoyed sitting around a camp fire. Time spent with family and friends, especially his cats, was always the highlight of his day. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him. Ken leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Alta (Gallagher); sons, Laurie (Susan Arsenault) of Stony Plain, Alberta and Randie of Mazerolle Settlement; a daughter, Sherie Harvey (Ryan Walton) of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Candice, Rachel, Alex and Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Kendra and Kieryn; a sister, Fraetha Lavigne of Kingsley; sister-in-law Agnes Harvey of Vancouver Island; an uncle, Melvin Crouse of Fredericton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and a host of treasured friends. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by a brother Ernest, a brother-in-law Eddie Lavigne, daughters-in-law Kathy and Jane and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alton and Arletta (Kelly) Gallagher.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
