J. Preston Roper, 86, of Moncton, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Born in Charlottetown, PE, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (MacRae) Roper. Preston was a retired commercial traveller with 20 years service and former owner of Preston’s Texaco; attended Central United Church and was a member of Alban Lodge # 5 G.R.N.S., New Glasgow, N.S. (received 50-year membership jewel). He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. Preston will be sadly missed by his wife of over 64 years, Trudy (Williams); sons, Bruce (Peggy), Point La Nim; Frank (Sandra), Shediac; David, Toronto; grandchildren, Jenny, Caleb (Robyn), Craig (Bryna) and Lesley; great-grandchildren, Torin, Kloe, Tristen and Keira; sister, Helen Roper, Charlottetown; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, predeceased by brothers, Arnold and Rae.
