
Dr. Ivan Michael Hunter-Duvar, PhD.
Dr. Ivan Michael Hunter-Duvar, PhD. died November 23, 2013, at Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He was born November 25th, 1930, in Vegreville, Alberta. Ivan served in the RCAF F/L 1949-1956, was President of Hunter-Duvar Ltd., Exeter, Ontario 1956-1964; studied, taught and did research at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan 1965-1972, University Hospital, Uppsala, Sweden 1973-1975, and Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto, Ontario 1975-1985. Dr. Hunter-Duvar was a Medical Research Scholar and was world renowned for his outstanding cochlear research. After many years dedicated to his medical research, Ivan retired in 1985. Ivan enjoyed his retirement to the fullest in Nova Scotia, Alberta, Mexico and Newfoundland. He was an avid sportsman and loved the great outdoors. Ivan had a great sense of humour, was passionate in his beliefs and was always open to new challenges. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family, many friends, and colleagues worldwide. Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Edward Hunter-Duvar and Loretta Musty, brother, Guy Hunter-Duvar and nephew, Ed Hunter-Duvar. He is survived by his brother Edward, sisters Lillian Anderson and Linda Houlahan, nieces Leslie Hunter-Duvar and Nora Houlahan, and nephew Darcy Houlahan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home, Deer Lake, NL. There will be no memorial service.
