BROWN (Sanford), Iva Doris – 78, Bible Hill, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, November 27, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 4, 1935, in Cogmagun River, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Fraser and Doris (Monteith) Sanford. Iva was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, knitting, country music and reality TV, mainly Big Brother and Survivor. She loved cats and will be missed by her feline companion, Rosie. Iva is survived by her daughters, Linda Brown (James), Valley; Julie Chown (Keith), Bible Hill; sons, Kenneth Brown (Cheryl), Stellarton; Gordon Brown, Jr., Bible Hill; brothers, Owen (Blanche) Sanford, Lundar, Manitoba; Gerald (Pauline) Sanford, Gary Sanford (Brenda Schmidt), Wayne Sanford, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba; sister-in-law, Sheree Sanford, Winnipeg, Manitoba; brother-in-law, Joseph Lynch, Windsor; grandchildren, Stephen, Tracy, Michelle, Jamie Lynn, Vincent, Justin, Carrie; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and countless other family and friends who will miss her deeply. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Amanda in infancy; sister, Shirley (Stephen) Munro (Newport, NS). Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Iva’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013, and where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in West Branch Cemetery, West Branch, Pictou County. In lieu of flowers, donations in Iva’s memory to Truro Boys and Girls Club, Crime Stoppers or MADD are welcomed.
