THOMPSON, AGNES W. – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Agnes Wilhelmina Thompson, wife of the late Elson “Al” W. Thompson of 59 years, which occurred at Turnbull Nursing Home on Saturday, November 30th, 2013. Born 1933, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Sr. and Winnifred (Hulme) Whittaker. She was a fulltime homemaker during her children’s younger years and in the later years held various jobs outside the home. Agnes will be greatly missed by her sons Walter of Edmonton, AB, Donald (Kim) of Saint John; daughters Carol Sleep (Daniel) of Quispamsis, NB, Mary MacNeill (Chris Cogswell) of Saint John, Debbie Hasel of Hay Lakes, AB; brother George Whittaker (Janet) of Norton, NB; sisters-in-law Marilyn and Marion Whittaker; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her husband and parents, Agnes was predeceased by her son David Thompson and brothers Fred, Gordon, Walter and Kenneth Whittaker and infant sister Shirley Whittaker.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, December 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 3rd at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
