It is with great sadness that the family of the late Velma Maddox announce her passing on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 82 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband and best friend of 64 years Leo; children: Carolyn, Leo Jr., Marion, Patricia (Sean) Spontaneo and Cindy (Tony) Rumboldt; grandchildren: Cheryl, Crystal, Sean Jr., Ashley and Amanda; sisters and brothers: Nora (Fred), Loretta (Basil), Irma, Lloyd (Gloria) and Roy (Jean); special caregiver Jackie Grant; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents James and Susan Martin, son Mark, sisters Anita and Myrtle and brother Lester. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows Parish, Humber Road with Father Joe Gash officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
