CHRISTENSEN, RETA - At Hotel-Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, December 1, 2013, Mrs. Reta Christensen of New Denmark passed away at the age of 72 years. She was the wife of Henning Christensen who passed away last year. Born at New Denmark in 1941, she was the daughter of Alma (Jensen) Hansen and of the late Verner Hansen. Reta was very active in her community, involved with the New Denmark Recreation Council and the Seniors Group for several years. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and attended Lutheran Bible Studies. She was an avid doll collector, card player, pet lover and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She is survived by her mother, Alma Hansen of New Denmark, two children, Kimberly LeBel (Kent) of Plaster Rock and Arlen Christensen (Kelly) of New Denmark, four grandchildren, Kameron, Krystal, Alyssa and Aaron, brother-in-law, Ray Christensen (Asta) of New Denmark, sister-in-law, Ann Green (Page) of New Denmark, four nieces and three nephews, including Derek Hansen who lived with the Christensen family during his teenage years. Derek is married to Sherry and they have three sons: Brandon, Dustan and Nicholas. Reta was predeceased by a son, Michael in 1980 and a brother, Hayden Hansen in 1998.
Resting at O’Regan’s Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, at the church, from 1 to 2 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, December 5th at 2 p.m. from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, New Denmark with Pastor Ralph Weigold officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.oregans.ca
