Lyman Dexter Lyttle, age 86, of Ellershouse, Hants County, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his daughter by his side. Born on July 24, 1927, in Ellershouse, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah (Densmore) Lyttle. He retired after 37 years, with Irving Oil, later drove with Perry Rand Bus Service. He was an Elder and janitor of St. Louise Union Church, Ellershouse, for 51 years and a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Newport Male Choir, an honorary member of Newport Jolly Seniors and last year he received the Provincial Volunteer and the West Hants Volunteer awards. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Frances RoseAnne Mitchell; his daughter, Judith (Lloyd) Rideout, Ellershouse; granddaughters, Sarah (Chad) Whitehead; Maggen (Kyle) Kelly; Shelley Rideout (Chris Burke); great grandchildren, Sierra and Caden Kelly; brothers, Lloyd (Audrey) Lyttle, Ellershouse; Boyd (Maxine) Lyttle, Windsor; brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Henderson, St. John`s, Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special canine friend, Toby. Besides his parents, Charles and Sarah (Densmore) Lyttle; he was predeceased by brothers, Bert Lyttle, Frederick Lyttle, and Roland Lyttle; sisters, Helen Williams, Ruth Henderson, Mary Spence, Doris MacBurnie and June Craig. There was no visitation by request. A memorial service was 2 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Lyman were requested to be made to the Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse, St. Louise Union Church, Ellershouse or a charity of one’s choice.
