THIBAULT, Amy Viola, 93, of Blanche, Shelburne County, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at her residence after fighting emphysema and peripheral artery disease. Born in Yarmouth on July 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lilly (Swaine) Crowell. Amy loved and raised horses on her farm in Cape Negro and was a foster parent to dozens of kids and young adults for almost 24 years. She loved helping young kids find their self-esteem, confidence and their identity. She did that by being a firm but loving disciplinarian and by showing them the value of hard work. She always assumed the best in “her kids” and, by example, demonstrated a strong work ethic around the horses and the farm. Over the years, many of her foster kids have called and visited to thank her for her valuable care and advice. Amy was also a postal delivery worker for many years. Prior to moving back to Nova Scotia in 1975 from Derry, New Hampshire to help care for her ailing mother, Lilly and stepfather, Burt Hill, Amy worked at Western Electric on telecommunications equipment in North Andover, Massachusetts and had horses at home in New Hampshire. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Harris (Michael) of Blanche and Judy Wolfe of Florida; son, Herb Moyer ( Karen) of Exeter, New Hampshire; sister, Norma DeFelice of Knoxville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Eric (Stacie), Kristen (Mark), Paul, Michelle, Stacy, Stephen (Natalie) and Lisa (Greg); twelve great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey, Isaiah, Dylan, Tyrnyn, Hailey, Shawna, Colten, Aydyn, Kaytlyn, Carson and Mya. Amy is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by three husbands, including Raymond Thibault, son-in-law, Donald Wolfe and seven brothers and sisters. The memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 19 at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Rev. Sim Rushton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VON. Online condolences may be sent to: huskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
