DYKEMAN, WALTER - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Walter Reade Dykeman at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on December 12th, 2013. Walter was born on August 8th, 1940 in Jemseg, Queens County, NB. He was the son of the late Wendell and Melba (Todd) Dykeman of Jemseg. The greater part of his life was lived in Jemseg with his later years spent in Fredericton. He was a kind, gentle, caring person who generously gave of himself to his family and community. He was loved by one and all. Walter is survived by two brothers, Carl Dykeman (Cheryl Bogart) of Jemseg, NB and Clinton Dykeman (Margaret) of Sidney, BC; four sisters, Anna McKinney of Quispamsis, NB, Leta Underhill (Ken) of Hampton, NB, Helen Dykeman (Gabe Gibson) of Fredericton, NB and Phyllis Ferguson (Malcolm) of Saint John, NB; and a brother-in-law Fred Black of Amhurst, NS. He is also survived by several dearly loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Dykeman and Gladys Black and brother- in-law Allan McKinney. Walter’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Ian MacDonald and to the hospital Staff of 4 North West (Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital) as well as to the staff at Terraces On Cliffe (Special Care Home). Your understanding concern and loving care to Walter has meant so much to us and made his difficult journey easier.
