Emma Mae MacLean
Emma Mae MacLean of Londonderry passed away peacefully at the Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro surrounded by her family on December 17th, 2013. Born February 14, 1921 in Londonderry Mae was the adopted daughter of Margaret (Maggie) Boulter. A lifelong resident and Londonderry’s oldest citizen at 92. Mae is survived by daughters Shannon Hudson (Glen), Nancy MacLean (Darrin McCafferty) and foster son Lewis O’Toole (Lorraine), grandchildren, Nicole Boyd and Taylor McCafferty, a niece and a nephew and close family friends Kelly (Linda) Eagles. She was predeceased by half-brothers Ben and Joe Neil. Mae will be missed by her many friends at the Tuesday night bingo games held in Great Village. A quintessential earth mother, Mae’s door was always open to those who needed a shoulder to lean on. A quiet living lady she will be missed by those who were privileged to know her.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Saturday, Dec. 21st from 1 pm followed by funeral service Saturday at 2 pm. Rev. Roger Moore will officiate with burial to follow in the spring in Hillcrest Cemetery, Londonderry. Family flowers only. Donations in Mae’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
