Louise Helen (Richards) Cooke
Cooke, Louise Helen (Richards) – 71, Bass River passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro following a courageous battle with lung disease. Louise was born in Great Village on June 12, 1942, the daughter of the late William Rushton and the late Helen (Rushton)(Richards) Lamont. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Richards. Louise was a longtime resident of Portaupique having worked in Truro in the retail and trucking industry prior to retirement as well as on the family farm where she enjoyed growing strawberries and corn. Louise is survived by her husband Russel, Portaupique; daughter, Anna (Derek) Stevens, Highland Village; sons, Glen (Wendy), Highland Village and Lester (Cristina), Orillia, Ont. Louise will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Caitlin, Deanna, Erik, Alexandra, Meaghan and R.J. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30 from 6-8 pm with funeral service on Tuesday, December 31 at 1:00 pm both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, Rev. Dan Gunn officiating. Spring interment in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. Family flowers only. Donations in Louise’s memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
