SHANNON, MARIE - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marie (Burke) Shannon, which occurred on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on April 11, 1930 she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Mary (Cormier) Burke. Marie was employed with St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aid for 20 years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception CWL. Marie is survived by her children's father, Edward Joseph Shannon; four sons, Eric of Montreal, Paul of Sackville, Peter of Saint John and Barry of Moncton; four daughters, Anita Stevens (Brian), Gail Shannon and Janet Vautour, all of Saint John, and Mary Claire Follette (Robert) of Montreal; one brother, Cyril "Cecil" Bourque of Hammond River; two sisters, Rose Mary "Bunny" Snow of Bloomfield and Eileen Galloway of Quispamsis; special family member, Laura; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB (634-1965) with visiting on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
